Autumn Yoga & Glamping Retreat by the Nahatlatch River

British Columbia · 4 days · From USD 751

Root Down and Reflect is a seasonal retreat, timed for autumn, when the urge to slow down and go inward feels natural. The setting is REO Rafting & Yoga Resort, a wilderness property with a full mile of private river frontage on the Nahatlatch River, about three hours from Vancouver. You're off the grid in the best way: no town nearby, just canyons, forest, and the constant sound of moving water.

The daily rhythm is gentle but structured. Mornings begin with a grounding flow yoga class led by a visiting instructor — this retreat features Taylor Iverson, a teacher with over 1,000 hours of training and a trauma-informed, exploratory style. Midday workshops change things up: Story Harvesting involves a forest bath and a sharing circle to reflect on the past season, while Writing the Body pairs somatic movement with journaling to help you put words to what you're feeling. Evenings wind down with yin yoga and stillness.

Between sessions there's plenty of time to explore. You can join a guided canyon hike, take a nature trail, walk down to the private beach, or meditate at a scenic viewpoint. The hot tub and nightly campfires are popular gathering spots, and the hammock garden is perfect for doing absolutely nothing. Whitewater rafting on the Nahatlatch is optional and hugely popular, with 24 rapids and a perfect safety record.

The food is a highlight. Meals are served on a scenic dining deck overlooking the river, with options for vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, and gluten-free diets. Expect fresh, locally sourced vegetables, local salmon when it's in season, and satisfying desserts. It's honest, hearty food that fits the outdoor setting.

What makes this retreat different is the combination of comfort and wilderness. You're not roughing it — the glamping tents have real beds and private decks — but you're also completely surrounded by nature. It's a chance to unplug entirely, with solar lighting, no cell service, and nothing to do but be present.
