Ayurveda Retreat on the Amalfi Coast: Seven Nights of Treatments, Yoga and Rest

A typical day has at least six group classes on the timetable, alongside your Ayurvedic consultations and private treatments. Meals and drinks are included throughout, and you are given retreat wear to use while you are there, so packing is light. The pace is deliberately quiet: the palazzo sits above the sea and the week is arranged so there is room between appointments.

What separates this from a general yoga week is the clinical side. The Vaidyas — practitioners of Ayurveda — see you for consultations and set your treatments from those. If you want a more focused therapeutic programme, Datu offers structured Ayurveda, TCM and Longevity packages with twelve pre-scheduled treatments a week, an online consultation before you arrive and a month of aftercare. The setting is a 17th-century palazzo overlooking the Amalfi Coast in Santa Maria di Castellabate, south of Salerno. It is Datu's permanent residence for the Return to Balance programme, as opposed to the Dimora di Datu residencies, which move each year.

The team is the same one that ran five seasons in Tuscany, and the practitioners fly in from Asia specifically for these weeks. Part of Datu's revenue funds Vaidyas treating communities in India free of charge, and there is a financial aid programme you can ask about if cost is a barrier.

Datu is explicit that the concept is nomadic: the Ayurveda weeks now have a fixed home in southern Italy, while the Dimora di Datu programmes add new settings each year — in 2026, The Postcard Hotel in southern Goa and Eremito, a monastic retreat in Umbria.
