Ayurveda, Yoga and Rainforest Adventure Retreat Beneath Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica

Costa Rica · 6 days · From USD 3745

The retreats at Moon Gate are built around a daily rhythm rather than a packed timetable. Mornings begin in stillness — yoga, breathwork and movement to start the day — before breakfast and whatever workshop or ceremony is scheduled. Teachers come from outside: the venue has hosted programmes with Ayurvedic practitioners, Ishta Yoga teachers, and guides such as Oliveyah Fisch, a trauma-informed embodiment guide and spiritual mentor, and Sarah Platt-Finger, who leads yoga, breathwork and meditation. Cynthia Crummer founded Moon Gate and leads some of the ceremonies and meditations herself.

What separates this from a standard yoga week is the mix of Ayurveda and outdoor adventure in the same schedule. You might do a cacao ceremony in the morning and rappel down a rainforest waterfall in the afternoon, or spend a day on lava trails and come back to a hot spring. The adventure elements are guided by professionals and described as light to moderate — no prior training needed, and nothing is compulsory.

The property itself is the other draw. It sits in rainforest on the slopes above La Fortuna with Arenal Volcano in view, and includes an Enchanted Garden used for mindful walks and quiet observation. Accommodation is arranged with partner luxury resorts in the area — the venue's own description points to five-star comfort, natural hot springs and volcano views — so the exact room depends on which retreat you book.

Food is Ayurvedic in approach, cooked with Costa Rican ingredients and adjusted for dietary requirements if you tell them in advance. There is also a dedicated food space, Chandra, at the sanctuary.

Some programmes include a post-retreat element: after the February 2026 retreat, Oliveyah Fisch led a 30-day integration programme through a private online platform, with guided practices, journaling prompts and group calls. Check what is attached to the specific dates you are booking.
