Ayurvedic Sleep & Stress Relief Retreat on Vembanad Lake, Kerala

The retreat takes place at Shantitheeram, a heritage property on the widest stretch of Vembanad Lake, the longest lake in India. The setting is peaceful and green, with houseboats drifting by in the late afternoon and a view that makes you want to breathe more slowly. The accommodation itself is split between two styles: Kerala Fusion rooms, which feel modern with local timber detailing, and Heritage rooms in a Nalukettu wood house that is almost a century old and was restored only recently.

Every guest gets a program tailored to them. On arrival, you meet with the Ayurvedic doctor for a consultation that includes Nadi Parikshan and Prakriti analysis to understand your body constitution and current imbalances. From there, the doctor prescribes your daily therapies, diet, herbal medicines if needed, and a daily routine. This is not a one-size-fits-all package, and the doctors adjust things as you go.

The daily rhythm is simple and repeated: morning yoga and pranayama, a therapy session, three Ayurvedic meals, some free time, and evening meditation. The retreat also includes an Ayurveda cooking class and a few specialized workshops. Dr. Devi S. Nair, the resident Yogic Healer, leads counselling sessions to help you process stress and build sustainable habits. Anil, the yoga instructor, takes you through Hatha and Ashtanga-style classes that are structured but gentle enough for anyone undergoing treatment.
