Each retreat runs Wednesday to Sunday, four nights in Bacalar, a lagoon town in Quintana Roo near the Belize border. The group is capped at eight women, and spaces open every month. If you fly into Chetumal, the closest airport, you're picked up and dropped off as part of the price.
Day one is about arriving. You settle into your room, then meet the group at a welcome circle followed by dinner together. Thursday starts with a morning yoga flow, then a chef-prepared meal, then an excursion out to the lagoon.
Friday is the day most people talk about afterwards. You head out by boat across the lagoon, stopping to swim in water that's so clear you can see straight to the bottom. There's yoga in the morning before you go.
Saturday has a local excursion in the morning and finishes with a sound healing session as the sun goes down. Sunday is one last yoga practice and a final meal together before everyone heads home.
What sets this one apart from a bigger yoga holiday is the size and the setup. Eight women, a handful of rooms, and two meals a day that you eat together. It suits people travelling solo, because the cosy shared room puts you in with up to three others, and the whole programme is built around doing things as a group.
You don't need any yoga experience. Every class is all-levels, mats are provided, and nobody minds if you sit one out to lie in the sun.
