Indonesia · 7 days · From USD 752
The retreat operates out of an eco-luxury boutique resort in Tanah Lot, located on Bali's southwest coast. The property is spread across a lush tropical garden with sweeping views of rice fields and forest. Because most of the team members come from the surrounding villages, you'll get an authentic welcome wherever you go — staff have even been known to invite guests into their own homes for a visit.
Your days follow a flexible structure. Mornings typically begin with a yoga class in one of two open-air shalas, with styles ranging from Hatha and Vinyasa to Qi Gong and laughter yoga. After breakfast, you can choose from a range of activities: hike through the UNESCO-listed Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, visit the sacred Tanah Lot Temple, learn to surf, go horseback riding, or simply relax at the resort's spa. Afternoons might include a meditation session, a jamu-making workshop, or a trip to Leke Leke Waterfall for a refreshing swim.
The retreat kicks off with a private melukat purification ceremony led by a local shaman, held right on the property. Throughout the week, you'll also have the chance to participate in interactive healing workshops where you'll create your own boreh (a traditional spice scrub) and jamu (a herbal tonic) using ingredients like turmeric, ginger, and clove. These sessions offer a hands-on connection to Bali's wellness heritage that many visitors never get to experience.
Guests consistently rave about the staff's genuine care and hospitality. One reviewer described how they "worked very hard but made it seem like they weren't working hard," noting that hospitality "came so naturally to them." Another mentioned how the staff remembered small details, like offering to hold breakfast for after yoga to accommodate medication schedules. The retreat also attracts a mix of solo travelers and couples, many of whom are looking for a balance of structured wellness and free time to explore Bali's culture.
Your host, Jane, is the in-house yoga teacher and brings a warm, approachable energy to classes. She holds a master's degree in social psychology and is a 500-hour Yoga Alliance-certified instructor, teaching styles including Hatha, Vinyasa, laughter yoga, and coconut yoga. Guests have described her sessions as a highlight of their stay, with one writing that "meditation on the beach with Jane was a highlight. Actually, I would recommend all classes with Jane, yoga and meditation. Good energy."
