Home › Retreats › Bali Mind & Culture Wellness Retreat: Yoga, Meditation & Local Traditions
Indonesia · 4 days · From USD 551
Day to day, this retreat mixes rhythm and stillness. Each morning opens with a yoga and meditation class, then a breakfast spread of fresh fruit, smoothies, and a traditional Indonesian drink called Jammu. There's genuinely free time in the middle of the day — by the pool, in a hammock, or on your cabin's terrace with the jungle sounds. Lunch is another buffet at the open-air restaurant. Midafternoon brings either the day's cultural session — the Canang Sari offering class, an introduction to Balinese cooking (though not a full cooking class here) — or simply quiet time. Before dinner there's a second yoga and meditation class on the jungle-view deck, and the evening ends with another buffet dinner.
What sets this retreat apart from a generic Bali yoga holiday is the specific cultural programming. Day three's Canang Sari offering class happens with local Balinese women and is a real window into the island's daily spiritual practice — making the little palm-leaf baskets filled with flowers and incense that you see everywhere in Bali. Combined with the option to visit local villages and watch dance practice, this is less a wellness resort experience and more a guided introduction to how Balinese people actually live. The Balinese massage, included once, is done outdoors in the garden.
The instructors are two long-time Bali locals. Putu Teddi trained in Ashtanga at local ashrams and left a banking career to teach; his classes are known for being light-hearted. Eli grew up on the island, practices Hatha and Vinyasa Flow, and trained with Balinese and Indian gurus. Both teach the twice-daily sessions here, making the teaching personal rather than outsourced. Beginners are explicitly welcomed, and the classes are suited to intermediate and advanced students too.
Bali Palms itself is run by Selena and Gusti, who opened the property years ago with a small team. Only 10 cabins sit on the 5-acre site, so guest numbers are low and service is attentive. The style is boutique rather than barefoot-basic — five-star quality cabins with teak furniture and semi-outdoor natural stone bathrooms, but set deep in the jungle rather than on a beach. Guests consistently report feeling looked after, with staff remembering repeat visitors and adapting meals to preferences, which shows in the 4.98 rating across 61 reviews.
