Home › Retreats › Bali Yoga & Adventure Wellness Escape in Ubud
Indonesia · 8 days · From EUR 1450
The retreat runs from a guesthouse in Ubud, a 10-minute walk from the main street with its market and cafés. Each day begins around 7am with a 75-minute yoga class on the covered shala — vinyasa most mornings, with a couple of yin and restorative sessions slotted in midweek when the schedule has been heavier. Breakfast follows, and then you're either back on the mat for a workshop or heading out for the day's excursion.
Day-to-day structure varies more than most yoga retreats. One day you're on bikes riding downhill through villages and rice paddies; another you're in a 4x4 at 2am driving up Mount Batur to watch sunrise from the summit. There's a full day trip to Nusa Penida with a boat crossing and stops at Kelingking Beach and Crystal Bay, and a quieter half-day visiting Tirta Empul and a local coffee plantation where you'll taste luwak coffee.
Afternoon classes cover the things you don't get to in a standard drop-in: arm balances, inversions, backbends, and a pranayama and meditation session toward the end of the week. One afternoon is spent on a Balinese cooking class, cooking with the guesthouse's own kitchen staff. Evenings are free — most people walk into town for dinner or sit by the pool.
The teachers are Balinese and international instructors who live in Ubud year-round and teach at the studio attached to the guesthouse. Classes are in English, and mats, blocks, straps and bolsters are all provided. Group size is capped so that the teacher can actually correct you, which is the main reason people pick this over a bigger resort retreat.
What makes it different from a similar week elsewhere is the mix of serious practice and real excursions, rather than one optional tour. You do the volcano hike, you do the boat trip, you do the cooking class — they're in the price and in the schedule, not add-ons to upsell you later.
