Home › Retreats › Balinese Healing & Wellness Escape in Sukawati: Yoga, Sound Healing and Farm-to-Table Rest
Indonesia · 3 days · From USD 780
The Bodhi Leaf Wellness is a retreat centre in Sukawati, Gianyar, Bali, founded by Putu Maryam, whose family roots trace back to the Balinese Royal Family of Karangasem. It's the sister company of Bali Floating Leaf, and opened as a new wellness resort roughly a year before these reviews were written. The property is quiet and set among palm trees and rice fields, away from the traffic of central Ubud but close enough for day trips to Ubud, local beaches, waterfalls, markets and the Bali Bird Park.
What guests actually do depends on which package they book. Stays range from a 24-hour reset to a 3-night or 5-night private healing retreat, plus themed packages covering detox, silent meditation, shamanic healing, aerial yoga, surf and spa, couples and yoga restoration. A typical day might start with yoga in the open-air shala on the third floor, breakfast from the farm, then a booked treatment such as a Balinese massage, facial, hair treatment or sound bath. Afternoons are often spent by the pool or in the sauna, with the ice bath available for those who want it.
The wellness menu is unusually broad for a property this size. It includes Balinese wellness spa treatments, shamanic healing, acupuncture, chakra balancing and nadi healing, reiki, Ayurvedic and Balinese Usada, transgenerational trauma healing, yoga, breathwork, meditation, hypnotherapy and sound healing rituals. That range means a stay can be built around physical recovery, emotional processing, or simply sleeping and eating well.
Rooms are described as clean and well kept, the setting is peaceful, and the staff are consistently singled out — multiple reviewers mention being greeted with a drink and a foot soak, and one solo traveller was surprised with a birthday cake and a Balinese birthday song. The property has a sauna, pool, ice bath, meditation space, yoga shala and dining area.
Meals are built around organic produce and poultry from Bodhi's Farm, including chickens fed a naturally probiotic diet. Guests describe the food as fresh, healthy, flavourful and beautifully presented, with enough variety across a stay that they didn't eat off-site. The resort also hosts outside retreat groups, runs corporate, family reunion and birthday packages, and can customise itineraries — one reviewer had a 4-day yoga retreat adjusted to suit her own needs.
