Indonesia · 7 days · From USD 457
The retreat runs on a simple rhythm. Mornings start around 8am with a 90-minute Vinyasa or Hatha yoga session followed by meditation and pranayama, led by Teddi — a former banker who left finance to teach yoga full-time. After breakfast (think tropical fruit, fresh juice, and light Indonesian dishes), you've got time to relax, book a spa treatment, or join a village activity.
Afternoons rotate between cultural experiences and more yoga. One day you might learn to make traditional Balinese offerings; another, you'll try your hand at cooking local dishes or watch a Balinese dance demonstration. There's a cooking class, a 30-minute massage included in the price, and optional excursions to temples and waterfalls. Every other afternoon has a second yoga session.
Dinners are communal — vegetarian Indonesian food with light salads, served in the garden as the sun goes down. The property itself is designed in traditional Balinese style: ornamental ponds, tropical plants, and mountain views. Rooms are simple but clean, with private bathrooms and terraces looking onto rice fields or gardens.
What sets this apart from busier Bali retreats is the location. Sesandan village is genuinely rural — guests mention walking through rice paddies, seeing local ceremonies, and feeling far removed from the tourist hubs of Ubud or Kuta. It's not luxurious, but it's real. Reviews consistently mention the staff, the yoga instruction, and the food as highlights.
