Days follow a simple shape. The morning workout is at 8:30 and runs through Barre, mat Pilates, Reformer Pilates and stretch across the week, with equipment provided. Breakfast follows at 9:30 at the villa. The late afternoon and early evening are free until the second workout at 18:30, which is shorter — around 45 minutes — and often the looser, more social session of the day. Dinner is either chef-catered at the villa or an organised outing to a restaurant or beach club, with transfers included.
What separates this from a generic Greek fitness week is the equipment and the instructor. Reformer Pilates is on the programme alongside mat work and Barre, and Rod teaches all of it himself rather than handing sessions to a rotating team. He created the Barre programme at Psycle London and has trained clients including Jourdan Dunn and Millie Mackintosh. He also runs his own digital platform, the BodbyRod method, and teaches private Reformer Pilates.
The villa is the other half of the appeal. Villa Agavi sits over two levels looking out to the Aegean, with five rooms in the main house and two guest houses, all with king beds, en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning. There is a swimming pool, a plunge pool on the lower level, and plenty of seating outdoors. It sleeps 14, so a full group fills it without feeling crowded.
The retreat grew out of Rod's own recovery. Fifteen years ago, after treatment for a brain tumour, he came to Mykonos and kept coming back — he calls it his spiritual home and says the island makes things feel that bit better when you are at a low point. That history explains the mood of the week: serious training, but no puritanism about it. Wine is poured, dinners run late, and the group tends to stay in touch afterwards.
Mykonos itself does the rest. The island is windy through summer and into October, which keeps outdoor sessions bearable, with temperatures usually between 24 and 28 degrees. Bring a sweater for the evening. Kayaking, surfing and swimming are all available nearby, and Rod organises optional beach club and restaurant visits, reserving tables and covering the transfers — you pay for your own food and drinks at those venues.
