Home › Retreats › Beachfront Yoga & Ayurveda Wellness Escape in Marari, Kerala
Kerala · 5 days · From USD 345
Dolphins Turf started out as a yoga and Ayurvedic retreat and has grown into a beachfront homestay that still puts wellness at its heart. The location is the standout—perched on the golden sand at Mararikulam Beach, right in the village of Arthunkal, a short walk from the famous Marari Beach. You're surrounded by palm trees, the sound of waves, and the daily life of a fishing village. Fishermen head out at dawn, and dolphins are often spotted offshore, which is where the place gets its name. It's a far cry from the crowds of Goa or the busy tourist hubs.
The hosted program is straightforward: daily yoga, pranayama, and meditation sessions, which happen either on the rooftop yoga deck as the sun comes up or directly on the beach. The yoga is traditional Hatha, taught with precision and care by Hari, a certified RYT 200 instructor with the Yoga Alliance who has been teaching in Kochi since 2019. He's also a teacher of Kalari, Kerala's ancient martial art, so there are often opportunities to try a session of that if you're curious—it's a unique addition you won't find at most yoga retreats.
Ayurvedic massage and spa treatments are available as optional extras, and the hosts can arrange a traditional Kerala cooking class so you can learn to make dishes like puttu and appam yourself. Because the retreat accepts only a handful of guests at a time, the experience feels more like staying with a hospitable family than checking into a resort. Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the sea, and there's always tea or coffee on hand.
Beyond the daily schedule, the area is full of things to do at your own pace. Walk the long, wide beach, rent a bicycle, or take a boat ride through the backwaters of Alappuzha. The hosts are locals and are happy to point you toward authentic experiences, from the best spots to watch the sunset to where to find the freshest fish. This is a retreat that doesn't try to do everything, but it does the important things beautifully—good yoga, honest food, a lovely room, and the ocean outside your door.
