Home › Retreats › Boxing & Muay Thai Training Camp in Alicante, Spain
Alicante · 7 days · From USD 1190
Training happens in three main settings. The base is the camp in the mountains of Guadalest, which has a full-size boxing ring, a fitness centre and more than 400 boot camp exercises set up for altitude training. Then there's the coast — beach sessions and jogging on the sand at different beaches each week, plus swimming. And then the national parks around Alicante, where the team runs outdoor pad work and conditioning circuits in the shade of the mountains.
A typical day starts with a run or warm-up before breakfast, then a technical boxing session mid-morning covering footwork, combinations and defence. Lunch and a rest follow, then an afternoon block that alternates between pad work with the coaches, bag rounds, sparring for those who want it, and strength or boot camp conditioning. Sessions usually wrap by early evening, leaving time to use the spa or get into Alicante town.
What separates this camp from a generic fitness retreat is the coaching. Coach Shahab started boxing and Thai boxing at ten, competed himself, and has spent years in the corner of title fights — his camp gallery lists numerous World and European champions he's prepared. Advanced and pro fighters come here specifically to do fight camps, and they train alongside complete beginners, though the groups are separated by level for the harder rounds.
The schedule varies day to day rather than repeating on a loop. Locations change: one morning on the beach, the next in a national park, the next in the ring. Excursions are built into the week too — waterfall visits, mountain trips, national park walks and sightseeing in the Alicante region. You are on the Mediterranean coast in one of Spain's most visited holiday areas, so free afternoons can be spent at the beach or in town.
Food is half board with drinks and snacks included: home-made organic meals and daily detox drinks, eaten at the camp between sessions. Rooms are on site, so you walk to the ring rather than commute.
The camp also runs variations on the same format — Muay Thai and kickboxing weeks, a yoga and boxing combination, and detox programmes — so if straight boxing isn't quite what you want, it's worth asking about those when you book.
