Caribbean Surf, Kite & Yoga Progression Week in Cabarete

Surfbreak Cabarete sits in the heart of Playa Encuentro, which means you roll out of your room and walk to the break rather than sitting in a shuttle. The setup is simple: private rooms with AC and ensuite bathrooms, breakfast included on camp weeks, and a base that's steps from the sand. Puerto Plata airport or the Sosúa bus station transfers are included, so you land and get driven straight there.

The one-week surf camp runs for seven nights with six surf lessons. Instructors pick boards based on where your surfing actually is — bigger and softer if you're starting out, something more responsive if you're already linking turns. It's aimed at all levels — beginners who want to stand up consistently, and intermediates who want to progress.

Outside lessons, Playa Encuentro has a handful of beach bars and restaurants, and Cabarete town is a short ride away for dinner, nightlife or a kite launch on the bay. The vibe is laid-back and tropical rather than resort-polished — this is a surf town, and the camp runs accordingly.
