Chakra Wellness & Yoga Retreat in the Catalan Wine Country

Alaya Yoga Retreat is a 150-year-old wine farm, recently renovated, set in the Alt Penedès wine region of Catalonia. The property is made up of three private villas, a large villa, and a 120-square-meter yoga shala, all surrounded by vineyards, gardens, and olive trees. There are horses, dogs, cats, and chickens on the grounds, and the pool sits between the fruit and palm trees, next to a small wellness center with a jacuzzi and sauna. The thick stone walls of the old farmhouse keep the interiors naturally cool, even in August, so there's no need for air conditioning.

The daily schedule is steady but not rigid. Mornings start with a chakra-focused yoga practice on the rooftop terrace or in the indoor shala, depending on the weather. After a big brunch, you have the middle of the day free to do as you please—swim, book a massage, wander through the vineyards, or curl up with a book from the library, which has books in five languages. Afternoons bring a workshop or a guided activity, and evenings end with a quiet dinner. It's a rhythm that lets you go deep into your practice while still having space to simply rest.
