Canary Islands
Club La Santa is where Europe goes to train. A 75,000 m² sports resort on the north-west coast of Lanzarote, built around a saltwater lagoon, where more than 80 facilities and over 500 activities a week are included in what you have already paid — not sold back to you as extras.
The numbers are the pitch. Three 50-metre heated outdoor pools with 24 lanes between them. A CONIPUR Vmax running track. Eight tennis courts open from 07:00 to 22:00, eleven badminton courts across two indoor halls, four squash courts, padel, pickleball, beach tennis and table tennis. An Olympic-standard weightlifting room, a bouldering wall, a 400m athletics setup, and a fitness centre that never seems to be full.
Step outside the gate and Lanzarote does the rest: volcanic roads that riders fly in for, open-water swimming off Playa de La Santa, and trails through a landscape that looks like nowhere else in Europe.
What makes it work is that nobody is left out. A triathlete can swim, ride and run before lunch. Someone new to all of it can learn to windsurf, join a Pilates class, and be in the lagoon by three. Kids have their own Fun Time, Play Time and Young Time programmes while their parents train — which is why so many families come back year after year, and why solo travellers find it easy: you turn up to a class, and by the third day you know people.
You choose the week you want. Nothing is compulsory, everything is included, and the timetable is rewritten daily so there is always something starting within the hour.
