Home › Retreats › Digital Detox Reset: A Week Unplugged in Costa Rica's Diamante Valley
Costa Rica · 7 days · From EUR 4328
You stay in elevated glamping tents tucked into the rainforest of the Diamante Valley, in Costa Rica's Southern Zone where the mountains tumble down toward the Pacific. The land is part of the draw: six private waterfalls, cool rivers, natural springs, private trails, and panoramic mountain views that catch the sunset. Toucans and morpho butterflies are a normal part of a morning walk here — this is one of the most biodiverse corners of the planet.
Days unfold at an unhurried pace. Day two takes the whole group to a private waterfall to swim and set intentions for the week, with lunch overlooking the valley and a gentle yoga-and-meditation flow in the late afternoon to shake off the travel. Day three brings a visit from the local Boruca tribe to learn about their culture — a portion of each booking goes to supporting their community — followed by an art therapy playshop. Day four is a breathwork session after another waterfall swim; day five is the Nauyaca Waterfalls in the morning and a sensory dinner with a sound healing journey at night.
What makes this different from a standard wellness week is that the digital detox is the actual point, not an add-on nobody follows. The whole schedule is built to pull you out of the fragmented rhythm of phones and notifications and into something slower. By day six you're browsing a local farmers market and spending hours at a pristine beach — an intentional bridge back toward the everyday world, while keeping the calm you've built up.
Laura runs it. For about a decade she co-owned and operated an international travel company, leading guests through immersive trips in more than two dozen countries, before moving back to Costa Rica and giving herself a full week unplugged at a rainforest sanctuary near her home. That week became Unplugged Travels. The retreat is hosted at Holos, a regenerative land project in the valley with open-air shalas, gardens, and gathering spaces woven into the landscape.
The climate helps. Thanks to the elevation, temperatures sit in the 70s and low 80s year-round, the water runs cool and clear, and short bursts of warm rain keep everything green. Nights get louder with jungle sounds and brighter with stars — and the sleep, by most accounts, is the best people have had in a long time.
