Dreamsea Surf & Yoga Camp in Uluwatu, Bali – Learn to Surf in a Sustainable Surf Camp

Indonesia · 7 days · From EUR 450

A typical day starts early – around 7am – with a light breakfast and a surf briefing. You'll paddle out with your instructor and a small group (max 4 students per instructor) to one of the nearby breaks. Uluwatu is a world-class left-hander for advanced surfers; Padang Padang and Bingin offer fun walls; Baby Padang and Balangan have mellower waves for beginners. After 2–3 hours in the water, you return to camp for a big brunch. Afternoons are free: relax by the pool, walk to the beach, or join the optional yoga class at 5pm. Evenings start with dinner at the camp restaurant, followed by movie nights, board games, or trips to local warungs.

The camp is in Uluwatu, on the Bukit Peninsula – a dry, rugged area with cliffs and some of Bali's best waves. The nearest beach is a 5-minute walk down some stairs. The camp itself is a cluster of bamboo bungalows and glamping tents set in a tropical garden. There's a pool, a restaurant, a yoga shala, and free Wi-Fi in common areas.

What makes this camp different: it's fully sustainable. The bungalows are built from bamboo and wood using local techniques, the glamping tents are made from natural fibres, and the whole place can be dismantled without leaving a trace. The restaurant uses produce from the camp's own garden. They also run beach clean-ups and environmental talks.

The surf instructors are local Balinese guys – Kadek, Made, and others – who have been surfing these breaks since childhood. They're patient with beginners and know exactly which break works on which day. The yoga teacher changes seasonally, but classes are suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to more advanced practitioners.

Uluwatu is a 45-minute drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Transfers can be arranged for an extra cost. The area has plenty of cafes, beach clubs, and warungs, but the camp is set back from the main road, so it's quiet at night.
