Home › Retreats › Eco-Luxury Yoga, Meditation & Culture Retreat in Bali
Indonesia · 5 days · From USD 509
The retreat is hosted at an eco-luxury resort that also functions as a small hotel, so there are regular guests on site alongside retreat participants. It’s set on a lush tropical garden with sweeping views of rice fields and forest, and the sound of birds and butterflies is your daily soundtrack. The property has two open-air yoga shalas, a spa, a restaurant between rice fields and a river, and communal pools. Your room is a private villa with either a garden view or a private plunge pool.
Each morning begins with yoga, typically Hatha or Vinyasa, led by the in-house teachers Jane and Besral. Jane is a 500-hour Yoga Alliance-certified teacher who also holds a master’s in social psychology, and she teaches a mix of styles including laughter yoga. Besral describes his teaching as strong and smart, with precise cueing that helps you explore your limits safely. Meditation sessions happen in the late afternoon, and there’s usually time for a spa treatment or a swim before dinner.
The retreat’s real draw is its connection to Balinese culture. On the second day, a local shaman leads a Melukat purification ceremony at the on-site temple. Later in the week, you can join workshops where you make your own jamu and boreh, traditional healing preparations. There are also optional excursions: a nature walk to Tanah Lot temple, a guided hike through the UNESCO-listed Jatiluwih rice terraces, a trip to Leke Leke waterfall, surfing lessons, or horseback riding through the countryside.
Meals are served in the resort restaurant, which sits between rice fields and a river. The kitchen uses local ingredients to create Balinese, Indonesian, and Italian dishes. Breakfast includes a fresh juice buffet where you can mix your own fruit and vegetable juice. The kitchen can handle most dietary needs, and the staff are happy to adjust portion timing if you need to eat before or after yoga.
The resort’s location is a short drive from Canggu, so you’re close to Bali’s beach scene, yet the retreat itself feels calm and rural. It’s an easy base for exploring: Tanah Lot temple is nearby, and Ubud is about an hour away. Guests regularly mention the warmth of the staff and how clean and comfortable the villas are. A few reviews note the yoga shala can get very hot during peak season, so the property added extra fans, but it’s still worth bringing mosquito repellent and sunscreen.
