El Salvador · 8 days · From EUR 1710
The core of this camp is a daily structure the academy calls The Surf Sequence, and it repeats every coaching day. You start on land with your coach — 30 minutes of warm-up and theory, covering the day's objectives plus some mental work: visualization, focus, relaxation, motivation. Then you paddle out. Your coach analyses the ocean and conditions with you, helps you position for the right waves, and gives technique advice in the water while a filmmaker captures the whole session.
After a short break, you sit down with your coach and review the footage wave by wave. Posture, positioning, speed, wave selection — what worked and what didn't. The videos get emailed to you so you can see your own progress rather than take someone's word for it. Then come the drills: 45 minutes on land, which might happen in the lap pool, in the gym, or on a skateboard on the concrete wave, depending on what you're trying to build. The point is muscle memory — practicing the movement somewhere controlled before you take it back into the water the next day.
The level system is what separates this from a standard surf holiday. Beginners (0–10 times in the ocean) work through the fundamentals step by step in a supervised, low-pressure setting. Novices — people already paddling out and catching unbroken waves on their own — focus on ride length, since they aren't doing maneuvers yet. Foundation surfers are working on positioning at the peak, confident take-offs, and top-to-bottom maneuvers down the line, with the goal of being able to keep training on their own after the camp ends. You're placed by level and coached within a group of no more than four, so you're not sitting in a mixed-ability lesson waiting your turn.
Each afternoon brings one included activity, rotating through the week: restorative yoga at 4pm, the U.Natural mobility class at 4pm, an ice bath experience (breathwork plus cold immersion) at 4pm, a self-defense or BJJ class at 6pm, and on the longer camps a 1pm half-day tour. Longer bookings also include a full-week tour and additional massages. There's a suggested night out on Friday for anyone who wants it.
Where you sleep is your choice. The single room has one king bed, the double has two full beds for two people, and the dorm is a mini apartment with six mixed bunk beds. Breakfast is included daily off the house menu and served at Covana Kitchen, and there's an optional meal plan you can add if you'd rather not think about dinner. This isn't a party camp and it isn't a beginner's one-off lesson — it's a week of structured training with your own footage to prove what changed.
