Indonesia · 8 days · From USD 995
A typical day starts at 06:30 with tea and fruit on the deck, then 90 minutes of vinyasa yoga from 07:00 to 08:30. Breakfast is served at 08:45 — eggs, fruit, rice, and coffee — and the morning strength session runs from 10:00 to 11:30 in the open-air gym. That session alternates between kettlebells, bodyweight circuits, and a short conditioning finisher. Lunch is at 13:00, and the afternoon is free until the 17:00 mobility and stretch class, which lasts an hour. Dinner is at 19:00, and most nights people are in bed by 21:30.
What separates this from the dozens of other yoga-plus-fitness weeks in Ubud is the size. The group is capped at 12, and the instructor, Made Surya, has been teaching in Ubud for 14 years. He trained in Ashtanga in Mysore and holds a Level 2 certificate in strength and conditioning. He runs every session himself — there is no rotating cast of visiting teachers — so he knows exactly what you did on Monday when he programmes Wednesday.
The property is a family-run guesthouse set back from the road in Nyuh Kuning, a quiet village just south of Ubud centre. The yoga deck is open-sided with a wooden floor and looks straight onto the rice terraces. The gym is small but properly equipped: two squat racks, a full set of kettlebells from 8kg to 32kg, dumbbells, rowers, and mats. It is not a commercial gym, but it has what you need for the programme.
Rooms are simple and clean, with fans and air conditioning, hot water, and a small terrace. There is a pool in the garden, and the whole place holds no more than 16 people, so it stays quiet. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all cooked on site by the family who owns the guesthouse, using produce from the market in Ubud. Vegetarian and vegan options are available if you tell them when you book.
The week is structured so that day four is a rest day — no morning yoga, no strength session. Most people use it to walk into Ubud, visit the Monkey Forest, or book a massage. The final evening finishes with a group dinner at a warung in town, which is included in the price.
