Home › Retreats › Grappling & Fitness Retreat in Siargao: Train, Surf, and Recover in Paradise
Philippines · 7 days
Training runs twice a day, morning and evening, in a complex that includes three gyms, a dedicated weights area, a pool, a sauna and an ice bath. Sessions are private to the group and cover martial arts instruction — the itinerary lists BJJ flow sessions, fundamentals, partner drills, roll marathons and open mats. The weights gym, pool, sauna and ice bath stay open to you outside scheduled sessions.
Day 1 is arrival: airport pickup from Sayak, resort check-in, welcome refreshments and orientation, then a light evening BJJ flow before a group dinner. Days 2, 4 and 5 follow a similar shape — morning instruction, breakfast, free time or an excursion, afternoon instruction or open mat, then ice bath and sauna. Day 3 is the full-day island-hopping trip to Naked Island, Daku Island, Guyam Island and Corregidor Island, with a traditional seafood boodle lunch served on the trip. Day 5 replaces the free afternoon with a half-day jungle excursion to Sugbao Lagoon and the Maasin River.
Day 6 is the heaviest martial arts day: a morning BJJ roll marathon and group techniques session, followed by a free afternoon at the beach or shopping for souvenirs, then an afternoon open mat or a rest and recovery session. The trip closes with a farewell group BBQ or beach dinner. Day 7 is departure day, with breakfast, an optional morning stretch or open mat, and transfers back to Siargao Airport.
The itinerary explicitly notes that the schedule is subject to change depending on weather and local conditions, so day-to-day timings can shift. Optional add-ons include massage and recovery treatments, surf lessons or board rentals, wakepark access, and motorbike or car rentals.
The retreat is put together by Custom Experiences, a subsidiary of Under30Experiences that builds custom group trips worldwide. Local host and retreat coordination are included, so someone on the ground handles logistics — transfers, reservations and excursion arrangements — while the group focuses on training.
