Home › Retreats › Greek Island Yoga and Adventure Week on Amorgos
Amorgos · 8 days · From USD 3150
Days start with a yoga, fitness or meditation session before breakfast, and there is a second session later in the day. Between the two, the schedule leaves hours free — the spa, the indoor seawater pool and the fitness centre are all on site, and the hotel looks out over the sea. Krista has taught yoga for 13 years and worked in fitness for 19, and she builds the week around a mix of Hatha, Flow and Yin plus strength work, so it suits people who want to move rather than sit still all week.
The outings are what separate this from a week of classes in a hotel. The guided hike goes from Tholaria to Langada, passing whitewashed chapels and a canyon, with views over the sea and mountains and wild herbs along the path. The private bus tour covers the Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa, built into the cliff, the Agia Anna chapel by the sea, the capital Chora, the ancient Tower of Agia Triada, and the beaches of Mouros, the shipwreck and Kalotaritissa.
There is also a Greek cooking class with a guided tasting of six local wines led by a regional expert, an afternoon in Tholaria that includes a welcome of a traditional sweet and a glass of handcrafted raki in a preserved 19th-century home, and a Greek dance lesson covering steps from dances like the Kitsos and Syrtaki.
Food is three organic meals a day at the hotel, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. One 30-minute massage is included, and further spa treatments can be booked at the Lalon Idor Spa.
Getting there means flying into Santorini or Athens and taking a ferry to Amorgos on Saturday 2 May, returning by ferry on Saturday 9 May. The Santorini crossing takes about 1.5 hours; from Athens it is roughly 7 hours. Krista is flying into Santorini and will coordinate travel with anyone taking that route.
