India · 15 days · From USD 575
The 100-hour Meditation Teacher Training at Sarvaguna Yoga is an intensive program that runs from 7 am to 8 pm most days, so it's not a holiday—it's a deep dive. The curriculum covers the theory and philosophy of meditation, from its roots and aims to the practical difficulties you'll face on the cushion. You'll study the scientifically proven benefits of regular practice, how meditation trains attention, and the physiology of stress—learning how to shift from 'fight or flight' to 'rest and digest.'
Practically, you'll explore a wide range of techniques: relaxation, concentration, awareness, chakra balancing, Kundalini, Yoga Nidra, pranic awareness, mantra, mindfulness, loving-kindness, and third-eye meditations. Each is taught and practiced, so you leave not just knowing about them but with direct experience of what works for you. The course also includes a practicum where you'll practice teaching meditation, give and receive feedback, and find your own voice as a guide.
The teaching team is led by Dr. Keshava, who guests consistently describe as warm, knowledgeable, and inspiring. He's joined by Eleanor Evrard, an osteopath and RYT-500+ teacher specializing in anatomy and yin yoga, and Shubham, a long-time practitioner trained at the famous Kaivalyadhama institute in Pune. Together they bring a mix of Eastern tradition and Western scientific rigor. The group is small—usually 4 to 8 participants—so you get plenty of personal attention and feedback.
Location matters here. The retreat center is in Upper Bhagsu, a quiet hamlet above Mcleodganj, the home of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government-in-exile. The area is steeped in Buddhist culture, with monasteries, prayer flags, and a strong spiritual energy. You're close enough to walk into town for a Tibetan thukpa or to visit the Bhagsunag waterfall, but far enough that the noise and crowds don't disturb your practice. One day of the course includes a trek to Triund, a popular hill station with sweeping views of the Dhauladhar range.
