Home › Retreats › Himalayan Sound Meditation Eco-Farm Retreat in Pokhara
Nepal · 4 days · From EUR 625
The schedule has a rhythm that repeats across all four days: wake up for breathwork and grounding meditation at 7am, breakfast at 8:30, then the main Himalayan sound healing session from 10:30 to noon using chakra balancing and bowl therapy. Lunch is at 1pm, followed by two and a half hours of your own time. At 5pm there's a sunset sound bath, dinner at 7, and an evening silence and fireside circle from 8:30. It's a quiet, structured day rather than a packed one — most of the actual retreat work happens lying on your back listening.
The sound sessions aren't a generic playlist of ambient noise. Gerrit Nitsche is a Singing Bowl and Gong Master and a Certified Sound Therapist who has run sessions for over 1,000 people across Nepal, South Africa, Australia, Indonesia and several European countries, and the bowls are handcrafted Tibetan ones. In 2018 he developed his own Brainwave Entrainment Methodology, which he says brings listeners into a theta brainwave state within about 20 minutes — the point being that you don't need to sit cross-legged in lotus to meditate. You lie down and listen to layered frequencies.
The setting is an active eco farm, not a purpose-built resort. Rooms are handmade from earth and natural materials in traditional Nepali tea house style. The description is upfront that it's "nothing fancy, but everything you need to feel comfortable" and that because you're in the middle of nature there will be bugs and insects around. If you need air conditioning and a spotless white bathroom, this isn't it. If you're fine with rustic, this is the trade-off for total quiet and mountain air.
Food is vegetarian and vegan only, all grown on the farm and served farm-to-table. Three meals a day plus herbal teas and snacks are included, along with filtered mountain spring water. The included Himalayan sound workshop teaches basic bowl techniques and frequencies, so you leave with some idea of how the instruments actually work rather than just having listened to them. The group size is kept small for individual attention, and the retreat runs out of Pokhara, Nepal.
