SaptRashmi, which means the seven colors of the sun's ray, sits in the Kangra valley, a region known for its tea gardens and trekking trails. The retreat center is a two-story building with simple rooms, a yoga shala, a library, and a garden. It's deliberately small—only a handful of guests at a time—so you get real attention from the founder, Tarun Sharma, who leads most sessions himself.
The program runs on a fixed schedule. Each morning begins with a herbal drink and cleansing kriyas, then a therapeutic yoga class focused on body awareness, followed by guided meditation for impulse control. Afternoons include personal therapeutic sessions—counseling, bodywork, or both—and evenings finish with a mindfulness workshop or group sharing circle. The structure is steady, and that consistency is a big part of what helps people feel safe and make progress.
What makes this different from a traditional rehab is the approach. There's no 12-step model, no heavy group therapy. Instead, the focus is on yogic philosophy, detox nutrition, and nature-based healing. The idea is that addiction and unhealthy patterns are symptoms of deeper imbalances, and if you heal the mind and body, the cravings ease. Meals are sattvic—pure vegetarian, lightly spiced, made from local produce—and the property is completely alcohol-and-drug-free.
Tarun has been practicing for over ten years and has trained across India with various masters. He's certified in yoga and nature cure therapy, and he brings a gentle, patient style to his teaching. Guests consistently mention how his empathy and knowledge made them feel at ease, whether they were doing their first yoga class or their hundredth meditation session.
