Home › Retreats › Himalayan Yoga & Sound Healing Escape in Rishikesh
Rishikesh · 3 days · From USD 154
The retreat runs at Maa Ganga Yogashala, a traditional yoga school in the Tapovan neighbourhood of Rishikesh. Tapovan sits in the foothills above the town centre, quieter than the main stretch along the river but still walkable to temples and cafes. The Himalayas are visible from the rooftop terrace on clear days, and the Ganges is close enough to visit on foot.
Days follow a set routine: early morning yoga (a mix of Hatha and Ashtanga styles), then breakfast, then a mid-morning theory or meditation session. Afternoons are lighter — pranayama, some free time, and an evening activity like kirtan chanting or a film screening. The sound healing session with Vinay's singing bowls happens at least once during the stay and is often cited in reviews as a highlight.
Vinay Khurana leads most of the teaching. He spent years working in Mumbai's film industry before leaving to study yoga full-time, reading the Bhagavad Gita, Puranas, and Upanishads alongside his practical training. He's been teaching for over twelve years now and is particularly known for his meditation and bowl sound work. The school also runs 100-hour and 200-hour teacher trainings, so the staff are used to working with beginners and more experienced practitioners alike.
Meals are sattvic — the yogic diet tradition that emphasises fresh, mild, and easy-to-digest foods. Expect vegetarian Indian dishes, herbal teas, and fruit. The kitchen accommodates vegan, gluten-free, and egg-free diets. Water, tea, and coffee are available throughout the day.
The retreat is available in a three-day (two-night) or five-day (four-night) version. Both follow the same daily structure; the longer option simply gives more time to settle into the routine and explore Rishikesh.
