Home › Retreats › Himalayan Yoga & Trekking Adventure Through Nepal's Ancient Cities
Nepal · 9 days · From USD 776
The first two days are at the Yatri Yoga centre in Kathmandu, where you settle in, join morning and evening yoga classes, and get your body used to the routine before the trek begins. The yoga sessions cover hatha-style asanas, pranayama breathing exercises, and meditation, with mornings more active and evenings focused on relaxation.
On day three you hike to Chisapani, a Sherpa village at around 2,200 metres with views of the Langtang and Gaurishankar ranges. The walk is mostly uphill through forest — about four to five hours — and you'll do evening yoga facing the sunset. Day four continues to Nagarkot, known for its panoramic Himalayan views including eight of Nepal's thirteen mountain ranges. You practice sunrise yoga here before heading down.
From Nagarkot you descend to Bhaktapur, one of the three royal cities of the Kathmandu Valley. This is a walking-and-looking day rather than a trekking day: you explore the carved temples, pagodas, and courtyards of the old city, which feels more like a living medieval town than a museum.
Day six is a travel day to Pokhara, either by private jeep or VIP bus. Pokhara sits on Lake Phewa with the Annapurna range behind it, and the pace slows here. The highlight is the day-seven sunrise yoga session at Sarangkot, on a hillside overlooking the lake with Machapuchare (Fishtail) mountain directly ahead. After the morning practice you visit the Peace Pagoda, hike down to the lake, and take a boat across.
The guiding is handled by Jay, a NATHM-trained trekking guide who knows the local trails and culture well. He's also a physical trainer, so he can scale the pace to your fitness level. Group sizes vary by season, and the retreat accepts ages 15 to 60. If you want a shorter or longer version, that's possible to arrange.
