HYROX & Hybrid Performance Week in Tenerife — Running, Strength & Recovery

HYROX & Hybrid Performance Week in Tenerife — Running, Strength & Recovery

Canary Islands · 6 days · From EUR 365

The camp runs out of the Travelling Athletes base near Costa Adeje on Tenerife's southwest coast. The region gets sun almost year-round, which is the practical reason this destination shows up so often for pre-season camps — you can run and train outside in December when most of Europe can't. Roads around the villa are quiet enough for running sessions, and the coast road gives you long flat stretches for tempo work as well as hills if you want them.

Training is structured around the eight HYROX stations and the running that connects them. That means SkiErg and RowErg intervals, sled push and sled pull work, farmers carries, sandbag lunges and wall balls, plus the 8 x 1 km running format the race is built around. Sessions don't treat these as isolated gym movements — pacing, transitions between stations and holding technique under fatigue are coached as part of the same thing, because that's what actually separates a good race from a slow one. Running volume is programmed alongside strength work rather than tacked on at the end.

The villa format gives the week its shape. On the all-inclusive options you're staying at the Travelling Athletes Villa near Costa Adeje, eating on site, training on site, and moving between the two without much planning. That's the difference between this and a hotel-based camp where you're driving to a gym every morning. The Hybrid House option goes further — a private property set among banana plantations with ocean views, a rooftop, pool, jacuzzi and on-site equipment.

Coaching is led by Travelling Athletes staff, with the format flexing between individual sessions and group training depending on the trip. The flexible and all-inclusive options include individual HYROX coaching — someone watching your sled technique, your rowing efficiency, your pacing on the run — while the guided weeks run on fixed dates with a group going through the same programme together. Both work for solo travellers; the guided weeks are easier if you want the social side of training with the same people every day.

The cruise variant in Mallorca is a different animal entirely — a 2026 HYROX camp on a ship, training with HYROX Elite 15 athletes, four nights minimum. It suits people who want the performance side of the camp plus a Mediterranean itinerary, and it's the one option in this collection where the accommodation and the destination are doing as much work as the training programme.

What separates this from a generic fitness holiday is that the whole thing points at a specific race format. There's a published race-prep timeline — roughly six to twelve weeks out from race day being the useful window for most athletes — and the camps are planned as a block in a training cycle rather than a standalone week of workouts. You don't need to have a race ticket booked to come; the training stands on its own.
