Phu Quoc · 7 days · From USD 1400
Nova describes itself as a purpose-built training space rather than a resort with a gym bolted on. The fitness programme is the reason people come, and it covers strength and hypertrophy, high-intensity conditioning, functional fitness, mobility and dedicated HYROX sessions. A typical day might open with a HYROX session mixing running and erg work with sled pushes, wall balls and weighted lunges, followed by a Strength and Technique class where you slow down and work on technique under the bar. Afternoons lean more varied: Cross Training, where you'll rotate through weightlifting, gymnastics and cardio movements; Nova HIIT, a full-body interval class with short rests; Spin, a music-driven ride of climbs and sprints; or a beach session on the sand.
Muay Thai runs as a proper class rather than a taster, with technical drills, pad work and sparring in an all-levels environment. There's also a Boot Camp session built around fast, military-style team challenges, and a Mobility class that blends stretching, activation and flow movement to keep you training without breaking down. On the recovery side, the property has an on-site ice bath and sauna, plus dedicated stretch areas — a detail that matters by day four or five of a week like this.
Outside the gym, Nova uses Phu Quoc itself as training ground. A weekly group hike follows a different trail each time, sometimes through jungle, sometimes to a stream and waterfall you can swim in — you can run or walk it. There's also a 4 km river kayak paddle from Nova down to the sea, which works as low-impact cardio and upper-body work at the same time. Back on site there's a padel court and volleyball facilities, both easy to book for casual games or something more competitive.
The programme is deliberately structured around progression across the week rather than isolated classes. You set goals early in the week in a workshop-style session — fat loss, strength, HYROX performance or something else — and the trainers help you break that down into daily actions. At the end of the week there's a reflection session on how the training went, a final Team Challenge, and the Super Nova award given to the guest who best embodied the retreat's values.
Accommodation is on site, either in modern private rooms or deluxe villas, all a short walk from the training zones. Rooms have air conditioning, Wi-Fi, secure storage and views over tropical gardens or nature paths. Villas are set up for couples or people combining training with remote work, with spacious living areas and work-friendly setups. The whole property runs on solar power.
Nova is not trying to be a luxury wellness resort. It's a training camp with good food, comfortable rooms, a genuine recovery setup and a lot of structured activity packed into each week. If you want to come out fitter, with your lifts tidier and your conditioning better, and you want to do that somewhere warm with a beach and jungle nearby, this is the setup.
