HYROX & Sun: Tenerife Performance Week with Personal Coaching (All Levels)

Tenerife

Days here are structured but not rigid. You typically start with a run or a conditioning session before the heat builds, break for a full breakfast, then move into the main technique or strength block. Afternoon is either a second training slot, mobility and recovery, or simply free time. Because coaching is individual as well as group-based, the coach adjusts the mix session to session depending on how you are recovering and what your next race demands.

What makes this different from a standard fitness holiday is that the sessions are built specifically around the HYROX format: 8 x 1km runs alternating with 8 functional stations (SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, row, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls). You will practise transitions, pacing and technique under fatigue, which is where most athletes lose time on race day. This is exactly where a coached week pays off versus training alone in a commercial gym.

The villa is the other half of the difference. Rather than a hotel gym and a buffet, you are in a private house near Costa Adeje with on-site equipment, a pool, and space to recover. Meals are included (all-inclusive), so you are not hunting for food after sessions. The group is small enough that the coach knows everyone's name and target times by day two.

Coaching is delivered by Travelling Athletes under the RACEFORM banner. Their model is: individual programming, daily group sessions, and a real focus on running — because in HYROX the runs are where races are won or lost, and it is the part most gym-based athletes neglect. If you have a race coming up, bring the date and they will shape the week around it. If you don't, they will still build a solid training block that leaves you fitter than when you arrived.

Tenerife itself does a lot of work here. Year-round warm weather, sea-level training (good for running pace and recovery), and Costa Adeje on the doorstep for coffee, sea swims and evening walks. The surrounding area is quiet enough to sleep properly, which matters more than most people admit during a training week.

Expect roughly two training touchpoints per day, one of which is often optional or recovery-focused. Nothing is compulsory — but the people who get the most out of the week are the ones who show up to everything and use the afternoons to rest rather than sightsee.
