Home › Retreats › HYROX Training Camp: 3-Day Performance Weekend in Brussels
Brussels · 3 days
The programme is built around the actual demands of a HYROX race rather than generic gym work. Friday's welcome workout is deliberately light — it's there to shake out travel and get you moving before dinner. You can choose a breathwork and cold-plunge session or, if you want hard numbers on your current fitness, book the optional lactate test. Both run Friday evening before the group buffet.
Saturday is the meat of the camp. You start with breakfast in the hotel, then mobility training with the whole group of 50 before splitting. Group 1 (0–1 races) does a full workout in the morning followed by the nutrition workshop, while Group 2 (2+ races) heads out for a shake-out run and a practical technique workshop on the stations. After a buffet lunch the groups swap, so everyone gets both the workout and the technique work, just in a different order. Dinner is buffet style with the day's coaches around to talk through anything you didn't get to ask during sessions.
Sunday morning is set up like race day: breakfast, then a pre-competition warm-up, then a full HYROX competition simulation — the run/station format run under pressure. It's the most useful part of the weekend if you're racing soon, because it shows you exactly where you lose time. Brunch at Romeo follows, then check-out at 15:00. If you're not ready to leave, gym and wellness access plus group classes continue until 22:00.
The two-group split is what makes this work for both first-timers and repeat racers. First-timers get the sessions broken down and time on the stations they've never touched; experienced athletes get pushed in the simulation and the shake-out run rather than re-learning the basics. The coaching is delivered in English throughout, and the whole thing is hosted at MIX Hotel in Watermael-Boitsfort, south-east of central Brussels.
What separates this from a generic fitness weekend is that every session points at a specific race outcome — station technique, running under fatigue, fuelling and pacing. The nutrition workshop and optional lactate testing add the numbers side: what your thresholds actually are and what to eat before, during and after. The facilities are all on site, so recovery is treated as part of the training rather than an afterthought — cold plunge, wellness area and massages are all available between sessions.
