HYROX Training Camp: Competition Prep in a Japanese Dojo, Poland

Poland · 6 days · From EUR 1500

The camp is structured as a five-night stay running from Tuesday afternoon to Sunday after lunch, giving you four full training days in the middle. Mornings typically start with a mobility and technique block before breakfast, then move into the main conditioning session — hybrids of sled work, erg intervals, and loaded carries. Afternoons cover strength work, performance tests, and race-specific simulations. There's an educational session on race strategy and mental preparation somewhere in the week, usually mid-camp. Evenings are left for the recovery facilities: sauna, ice bath, or a booked massage/physiotherapy slot.

What separates this from a generic fitness camp is the equipment. The organisers ship in and set up the same kit used at real HYROX events — RowErg, SkiErg, push and pull sleds, wall balls, kettlebells, sandbags — so every session is done on competition-standard gear rather than approximations. Coaches run performance tests during the week so you leave with numbers, not just a feeling of having worked hard.

The coaching roster is a mix of well-known and specialist. Anna Lewandowska is a former multiple medallist in traditional karate at World, European and Polish championship level, holds fitness and personal training certifications including CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, has completed extensive nutrition coursework, and created the ALL OUT hybrid training programme. She is joined by Jakub Jandura, Country Manager for HYROX Poland and a certified HYROX Level 1 trainer and competitor; Luis Pajares, a CrossFit Level 2 coach based at Edan Studio in Barcelona with a background in football, calisthenics and functional training; and Małgorzata Reysner, a trainer since 2006 specialising in CrossFit, functional training and high-intensity work, a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer since 2015 and named Top Trainer by Shape magazine in 2016. Several members of the coaching team are in the process of completing their HYROX coach certification.

DOJO Stara Wieś is the location, and it's genuinely unlike most training venues. It's a complex built to Japanese architectural principles, sitting in open farmland and forest on the edge of the Przedbórz Landscape Park in central Poland — quiet, rural, and well away from any city. It also functions as the largest centre in Europe for specialist Far Eastern martial arts and combat sports training. For the camp week, the training halls get converted to HYROX spec.

Accommodation is in Japanese-style cottages on site, each taking up to seven people, with futon beds rather than standard mattresses. The full-board menu is built from Anna Lewandowska's recipes and uses organic products from partner brands. The stated aim is that the food supports recovery and fuelling rather than being a restriction exercise, and the nutrition content includes practical habit-building for after you go home.

By the end of the week you should have a working race strategy, improved technique on the specific HYROX movements, and a clearer sense of how to structure your own training. The camp is aimed at people already signed up for a HYROX event, people mid-way through a training block, and anyone who wants to test themselves against competition-standard conditions with proper coaching on hand. Places are limited by the cottage capacity, and booking is by email request followed by payment.
