Home › Retreats › Hyrox Training Camp in Fuerteventura with World Champion Alexander Roncevic
Spain · 7 days
The camp runs as a themed week at Playitas Resort, and the daily rhythm is built around two main training blocks plus seminars. Mornings typically start with a run or a conditioning session before breakfast, then the late morning slot is for technique work on the specific Hyrox stations — sled, wall balls, burpees, carries — with the coaches watching every rep and correcting it. Afternoons are lighter: a seminar on race strategy, pacing or fuelling, an optional mobility or pool session, or free time to recover.
What separates this from a generic fitness week is the coaching bench. Alexander Roncevic has won the Hyrox World Championship, so the sessions on race-day pacing and station efficiency come from someone who has actually executed at that level. Sally Morgan brings the women's racing perspective, and Hugo Hugemark is on the ground all week as the resort's resident Hyrox specialist. The Q&A sessions are genuinely open — you can ask how they taper, what they eat on race morning, how they handle the sled when their legs are gone.
The programme is listed as a draft and may change, but the shape of it is fixed: technique over volume, with the goal of making each station faster and less wasteful. If you're preparing for your first Hyrox, the coaches scale sessions and spend time on the basics. If you already race and want a PB, the focus shifts to pacing and transitions.
Playitas itself is a dedicated sports resort, which matters more than it sounds. The gym, track, pool and recovery facilities are all on site, so you're not losing hours to transfers. There's a spa for recovery, a choice of restaurants, and the resort sits close to the coast in Fuerteventura — you can walk to the water between sessions.
The camp is capped and sells out, so book early if you want a specific date. Rooms are booked separately through the resort, which gives you the choice of staying in the hotel or in an aparthotel on the property.
