Inca Trail to Machu Picchu Trekking Retreat

Inca Trail to Machu Picchu Trekking Retreat

Peru · 4 days · From USD 775

This four-day trek covers the full 44-kilometer classic Inca Trail, from the trailhead at Km 82 to the Sun Gate above Machu Picchu. Day one starts with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco or the Sacred Valley, a breakfast at the operator’s family farm in Urubamba, and a meeting with your guide, chefs, and porters. You’ll walk through valleys and cactus forests with views of Veronica Mountain, visit the ruins of Willkaraccay and Llactapata, and camp at Wayllabamba. Day two is the hardest: a steady climb to Dead Woman’s Pass at 4,215 meters, with a gratitude ceremony at the top, then a descent to Pacaymayo. Day three is a long day through cloud forests and Inca sites like Runkurakay, Sayaqmarka, Phuyupatamarca, and Wiñay Wayna, finishing with a farewell dinner at camp. The final day starts before dawn, hiking to the Sun Gate for your first view of Machu Picchu glowing in morning light, followed by a guided tour of the citadel and a train ride back to Cusco. Your guide Alfredo Huari, who grew up in a small indigenous community and trained as a tour guide in Cusco, brings deep local knowledge and keeps the group small so the pace feels mindful rather than rushed. The operator, Wari Tours, is indigenous-owned and focused on sustainable, low-impact travel, with porters and chefs from local communities.
