Home › Retreats › Integral Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in Athens, Greece: 200-Hour RYT Certification
Greece · 28 days · From USD 2100
The Yoga Skyros Academy has been training yoga teachers since 2005 and has a clear focus: their graduates are competent and employable from the day they're certified. This 200-hour course covers everything in the Yoga Alliance syllabus, including yoga ethics, Patanjali's eight limbs, the history of yoga, anatomy and physiology, alignment, hands-on adjustment, sequencing, and more. But the academy's real specialty is teaching you to apply yoga for specific issues—back pain, anti-aging, sleep disorders, weight loss, depression, menopause, arthritis—using chakra-based approaches and the integral yoga tradition.
What makes this course different is the small class size of ten or fewer students. You're not learning in a big lecture hall with a faceless trainer; you're working closely with Carmen and Dietmar, who have over two decades of experience between them. Carmen trained with Master Dickson in Hong Kong and Swami Vidyanand in New Delhi, and Dietmar is a Dr. Bach practitioner and kinesiologist. The program includes daily yoga classes led by senior teachers, followed by debriefing sessions where you analyze what happened, as well as theory and philosophy classes and dedicated asana practice time.
Each day follows a structured sequence: morning yoga with a senior teacher, a debrief, breakfast, theory and philosophy, lunch, asana practice, and more asana theory, then an afternoon yoga class and its debrief. The schedule is intense but thorough—you're living and breathing yoga for a full month. In your free time, you can walk to the beach at Glyfada, take the tram into Athens to see the Acropolis, or hike up Mount Ilios behind the academy.
The Yoga Skyros Academy recently moved to a new location in Glyfada, a high-end seaside neighborhood known as the Greek Riviera. The yoga room is beautiful, with a wooden floor and balconies all around, and the rooftop hosts classes with a view toward the sea. The design was done by Theodora Papadaki from Santorini. It's a peaceful place designed to help you reset within the city, blending the energy of Athens with the calm of the coast.
