Home › Retreats › Iyengar Yoga Week on Turkey's Dalyan River
Turkey · 7 days · From USD 805
Gerda Bayliss teaches the week's ten Iyengar classes. Mornings begin with practice in the riverside yoga space at Likya Pension, followed by a buffet Turkish breakfast. On most days there's a second, late-afternoon session; the middle of the day stays free. Iyengar classes lean on props and precise alignment, so the pension's fully equipped space matters here — you're not working around missing equipment.
Dalyan itself is a protected area of rivers, wetlands and mountains, with the ancient city of Kaunos across the water and the protected Iztuzu turtle beach a boat ride away. The town centre is a 10-minute walk from the pension, with local restaurants and cafés for the meals that aren't included. Optional river boat trips run along the coast for anyone who wants a day out.
Accommodation is simple and comfortable: eight ground-floor rooms and four upstairs rooms with balconies, all en-suite, set in gardens beside the river. The swimming area is right there, so a quick dip between classes doesn't need planning.
Dalaman airport (DLM) is 30–35 minutes away, which makes the transfer short. Two group dinners at the Likya are part of the package, along with the daily breakfast; everything else you eat is your own choice in town.
This is a yoga holiday rather than a strict training week — plenty of practice, but plenty of unstructured time too. Think mornings on the mat, afternoons swimming or on a boat, and dinners with the group on a couple of nights.
