James Evans Residential Boot Camp & Adventure Fitness Weeks

James Evans Residential Boot Camp & Adventure Fitness Weeks

United Kingdom · 7 days

A typical day at a James Evans residential starts early. You'll be up for a morning training session before breakfast — often a mix of cardio and bodyweight conditioning to get you going — followed by a proper breakfast. Through the middle of the day there's usually a mix of strength work, circuits, team challenges and, depending on which camp you're on, outdoor sessions or hikes. Afternoons often have a second block of training, and evenings are for dinner and recovery. The exact timetable shifts depending on whether you've booked a fitness residential, a weight-loss camp, a fitness holiday or one of the adventure weeks.

What separates this from a lot of boot camps is the variety of programmes under one roof. If you want pure fitness, there's a residential for that. If weight loss is the goal, there's a dedicated camp that approaches it through training and food rather than diets. If you'd rather combine training with a holiday feel, the fitness holidays cover that. And if you want a physical challenge with a landscape attached, the 3 Peaks and Jurassic adventure camps take you out onto real terrain — the 3 Peaks being the classic UK three-mountain challenge and the Jurassic camp set on the Jurassic Coast.

The training is led by James Evans himself with support from his team. James has over a decade of experience running these camps and they've won awards in that time, which in practical terms means the format has been refined across hundreds of groups — the sessions are scaled so that a range of fitness levels can take part, and the coaches know how to push people without breaking them. You're training alongside a group of people who've all signed up for the same thing, which tends to make the harder sessions a lot more bearable.

Food is a big part of the weight-loss camps in particular, but it runs across all of them: meals are provided, they're cooked for you, and the point is that you eat properly while you're training rather than being handed a restrictive diet. That's the core of the "lose weight without dieting" pitch — the calorie deficit comes from the training volume and sensible portions, not from cutting out food groups.

Accommodation is part of the residential package — you stay on site for the duration so you're not commuting in and out each day, which is what makes the multi-session-a-day format work. The adventure camps are the exception in terms of setting: you're out on the hills and coast rather than at a single base, though the residential structure still applies. Across all the camps the atmosphere is deliberately sociable and fun — this is not a silent, punitive fitness prison; the team's whole pitch is that you'll work hard and enjoy it.
