Jungle Wellness Escape with Yoga, Healing Rituals & Massage in Bali

Indonesia · 6 days · From USD 928

Bali Palms occupies a patch of jungle in Laleng village, Tabanan Regency, in the western part of Bali that locals call the island's 'rice bowl.' The property feels more like a small village than a resort: bamboo-and-brick cabins are scattered among tropical gardens, each with its own terrace facing the greenery. A river runs along one edge, and there are waterfalls within walking distance.

The yoga here is vinyasa flow, led by Eli, a Balinese instructor who has been practising for over a decade and trained with both local and Indian teachers. Sessions happen twice daily on an outdoor ironwood deck — expect to hear birds and insects rather than music. The classes suit beginners through to experienced practitioners; Eli adapts the intensity based on who shows up.

What sets this retreat apart from a typical yoga holiday is the integration of traditional Balinese healing. On day two, you'll take part in a Melukat ceremony — a water purification ritual performed at a local temple or sacred spring. Later in the week, there's a one-on-one session with a healer practising five-element energy work. These aren't demonstrations for tourists; they're the same rituals Balinese people use themselves.

The pace is deliberately unhurried. Mornings start with yoga and breakfast, then you might have a healing session or massage, but afternoons are largely free. You can rent a bicycle, hike in the surrounding jungle, or just float in the pool. Evenings end with another yoga class and a buffet dinner featuring dishes like pumpkin soup, red rice, stir-fried vegetables, and Balinese desserts.

The hosting team is led by Selena and Gusti, who built the property over several years with the aim of sharing 'real Bali' — the quieter, more traditional side of the island that most visitors never see. Reviews consistently mention how attentive the staff are, remembering guests' names and dietary preferences from previous visits.
