Home › Retreats › Jungle Wellness Retreat with Yoga, Meditation & Balinese Healing in Tabanan
Indonesia · 4 days · From USD 598
Bali Palms sits on five acres in Laleng village, Tabanan Regency — a part of Bali known for traditional villages and rice terraces rather than beach clubs. The drive from the airport takes about an hour, and you arrive to a property that feels more like a small jungle compound than a resort. Ten private cabins are spaced apart for privacy, each built with bamboo, wood, and brick in a traditional Balinese style.
The retreat runs twice-daily yoga sessions — vinyasa flow in the mornings and a mix of yin and restorative styles in the afternoons. Classes happen on a wooden deck that looks out over the rainforest, and the teachers (Eli and Teddi) are local Balinese instructors who've trained in both Hatha and Ashtanga traditions. Teddi, who used to work in banking, is known for keeping things light with plenty of jokes; Eli focuses on what she calls 'inner yoga' — awareness of the mind-body connection during practice.
The standout experience is the Melukat ceremony on Day 2 — a traditional Balinese water purification ritual. This isn't a tourist show; it's a real ceremony that locals participate in, and the retreat arranges for you to join one. Past guests describe it as the most memorable part of the trip.
Meals are served buffet-style in an open-air restaurant overlooking the garden. The food leans healthy and plant-forward — smoothies and tropical fruit for breakfast, red rice and vegetable dishes for lunch and dinner — though non-vegetarian options are available too. The property grows its own coconuts, and fresh juice is available throughout the day.
Between sessions, there's a pool, a garden to wander, and the option to rent bicycles or arrange local hikes. But the real draw here is the quiet — this is a retreat for people who want to slow down in a genuine jungle setting, not tick off activities.
