Home › Retreats › Khmer Martial Arts & Fitness Retreat near Angkor Wat: 4-Day Siem Reap Wellness Break
Siem Reap · 4 days · From EUR 1050
The retreat is a fixed 4-day, 3-night package, but the shape of each day is fairly consistent. Mornings start with either a Kun Khmer session or a personal training slot at Meru Fitness Center, Siem Reap's main fitness facility, which the resort partners with directly. The martial arts sessions are taught by Thierry, Dina and Long, who train fighters in traditional Cambodian boxing — you'll work through stance, footwork, basic combinations and pad work rather than being thrown straight into sparring. Two yoga classes at the Aum Yoga Center on the property sit alongside the harder sessions, and there's a bio-pool used for low-impact aquatic work if you want something easier on the joints.
The afternoons are deliberately open. Grace Café serves the included meals, with a menu built around fresh, locally sourced ingredients and a strong plant-based section. Vegan and vegetarian guests are straightforwardly catered for. Two 60-minute treatments at Mahalaya Wellness & Spa are included over the stay, covering both traditional Khmer therapies and more standard massage work — useful if you've gone hard in the gym on day one.
What separates this from a generic fitness holiday is the location. Angkor Grace sits on Preah Norodom Sihamoni Avenue in Siem Reap, minutes from the Angkor Wat complex, and the resort leans into that — guests often use the temple visits as a quiet part of the trip rather than a separate sightseeing day. Optional excursions to Angkor Wat and other ancient sites, plus a Khmer cooking class, can be arranged for an additional fee.
The accommodation is one of the more unusual parts. Instead of standard hotel rooms, you're in a private luxury suite within a one- to five-bedroom residence, with modern fittings and views over the surrounding gardens and Cambodian landscape. That setup also makes it workable for couples or small groups who want to train together and share a residence.
Everything is customisable within reason. You can extend the stay, add more personal training sessions, swap in extra spa time, or add cultural activities. The resort also runs childcare under the name 'Ponleu' for parents who want to train or take a massage without the kids in tow, and there's a sound healing offering called 'Amazing Grace' if you want something quieter than another gym session. Because the package is built around a small team of instructors and a set number of suites, it's worth booking ahead if you're targeting specific dates.
