Kundalini Yoga and Sound Healing Retreat in a Secluded Portuguese Valley

The Me Within Me retreats, run by Amrit Singh, are built around what he calls the '5 Levels of Healing' – the Magic, the Medicine, the Science, the Art, and the Learning – each linked to one of the elements. Working through these levels are five healing modalities: Kundalini Yoga, Karam Kriya (numerology), acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and shiatsu massage. Each day includes lectures and discussions on topics like the 10 spiritual bodies, the role of the organs in our emotional lives, and how lifestyle affects organ function, alongside practical sessions in meridian stretches, kriyas, and meditations.

The retreat is small, with between 4 and 8 participants, which means Amrit can give a lot of personal attention. He offers individualized herbal treatment plans, arranges acupuncture and shiatsu sessions, and is always up for a chat about the teachings. The daily programme is structured but optional – you can join as much or as little as you like, though most guests dive in fully. Evening chanting sessions at the ashram, which often include guests from around the world, are a highlight.

The accommodation is basic but characterful. The 'Secluded Wooden Cabin' is a cosy space with its own terrace and kitchenette, surrounded by trees and birdsong. There is also a private campervan with valley views and a round palm leaf cabin made of pallets and straw with an earthen plaster. The shower and toilet are outside. It is not luxury, but it is clean, peaceful, and perfectly suited to a retreat focused on inner work rather than outer comfort.
