Kundalini Yoga Ashram Retreat in Sintra, Portugal

The retreat is hosted at Guru Ram Dass Ashram, a community established in 2008 that has been running trainings and volunteer programs for over fifteen years. It's not a purpose-built retreat center—it's a functioning ashram with residents, volunteers, and daily practice, and guests slot into that existing rhythm. The program follows a 'self-initiation' idea: you're encouraged to attend all the scheduled activities, but the real work happens through consistency and your own commitment across the week.

Mornings are the heart of the day. From 5:30am to 8:00am there's the Aquarian sadhana, which starts with a reading from the Japji (a sacred Sikh text), moves into kundalini yoga exercises, then relaxation, mantra meditation, and a closing prayer. Breakfast follows, and the rest of the morning is open time for karma yoga in the kitchen, garden, or house, or for rest and reflection. There are also two kundalini yoga classes in the late afternoon each week, plus daily kirtan at 6:30pm before dinner.

The ashram is run by a non-profit association and was founded through the inspiration of Satya Kaur and Shiv Charan Singh, who still offer guidance and teachings. Your host for the retreat is Dr. Tanpreet, a kundalini yoga teacher and healer with 14 years of teaching experience, who also offers optional one-to-one sessions in meditation, healing, and Karam Kriya numerology during your stay.
