Ladies' Surf & Yoga Retreat in Cold Hawaii, Denmark

Denmark · 7 days · From EUR 335

The Vahine women's camp is a surf-and-yoga week at Cold Hawaii Surf Camp in Klitmøller on Denmark's northwest coast. The camp is run by Mor and Vahine, who have been teaching surfing here since 2010 and hold 15 Danish championship titles between them. It's a family business, not a franchise — the same people who teach you are the ones running the café and shop.

A typical day starts with breakfast, then a surf session in the morning when the wind is usually lighter. Instructors take you through the basics on the beach first — where to lie on the board, how to paddle, how to pop up — then you're in the water. The afternoon session often mixes in yoga, either on the deck or nearby, and there's usually a second surf session if conditions allow. Evenings are free; most people end up at the café.

The camp is designed for all levels. If you've never surfed before, you'll be in a beginner group with an instructor who stays with you in the water. If you already surf, they'll match you with a group that suits your level and take you to the better breaks around Klitmøller. Cold Hawaii has a range of spots — beach breaks, reef breaks, points — so there's usually somewhere working regardless of swell direction.

What sets this camp apart is the longevity. Mor and Vahine have been running it since 2010, and the instructors are local surfers who know these waves in every condition. The gear is top quality and included in the price. The café attached to the camp is the original surf café in Klitmøller and a gathering point for the local surf scene.

Klitmøller is a small town, so the evenings are quiet unless there's an event on. That suits most people who come here to surf. The beach is a short walk away, and the surrounding coastline — part of Thy National Park — is worth exploring on a rest day if you want a break from the water. The camp is open April to October, with the warmest water and most reliable conditions usually in late summer.
