Home › Retreats › Machu Picchu Wellness Escape with Shaman-Led Ceremonies at Sanctuary Lodge
Machu Picchu · 1 days · From EUR 629
Sanctuary Lodge sits at the entrance to Machu Picchu, so the citadel is on your doorstep rather than a bus and a queue away. The wellness programme here is built around treatments and ceremonies rather than a class timetable — you book massages and shaman-led experiences individually, and the rest of the day is yours.
The spa menu is short and specific. The Inca Massage is the signature treatment, available in 25, 55 and 85-minute versions from USD 75. The Umaikita Hanpinapaq Therapy is 45 minutes at USD 120. The Inca Trail Ancestral Massage is 85 minutes at S/ 814, and the Hot Stone Massage is 85 minutes at S/ 629. Shorter options include Reflexology at USD 85 for 30 minutes and the Tired Feet Massage at USD 180 for 60 minutes — the latter is aimed at walkers who have just come off the Inca Trail.
Beyond the treatment room, the lodge runs shaman-led experiences. A coca leaf reading, a payment to the earth ceremony, and vow renewals are all listed. These are led by a shaman rather than hotel staff, and they draw on Inca practice.
The gardens are a feature in their own right, planted with native Peruvian flora. Guests are encouraged to walk them between treatments. The property also has a dedicated massage room.
Prices are shown in two currencies on the source page — some treatments in US dollars, others in Peruvian soles — so check which applies when you book. The page does not list room types, departure dates, or a full day-by-day schedule; treatments and ceremonies are booked as add-ons to your stay.
