Mediterranean Yoga Escape: Holistic Retreat in the French Riviera Village of Saint-Jeannet

France · 7 days · From EUR 1250

The house is in Saint-Jeannet, a village of maybe 4,000 people wedged between the Baou cliffs and the vineyards that run down toward the Var river. It's a 25-minute drive from Nice Côte d'Azur airport and about the same to the coast at Cagnes-sur-Mer. The frogs' house has been hosting yoga retreats here since 2006, and the building itself is much older — thick stone walls, shutters, a terrace looking south toward the sea.

The programme runs across a week, and the format is deliberately loose. There's a morning session most days — asana, breath work, sometimes meditation — held in the purpose-built studio on site. Some afternoons have workshops on things like real-life applications of yogic ideas, journaling, or cooking. Others are free. Excursions are worked into the week: a trip to a provençal market, a walk along the coast path, an afternoon in an art town like Saint-Paul-de-Vence, or a hike up the Baou. Evenings often close with a meditation, a discussion, or just dinner on the terrace.

What separates this from a lot of yoga holidays is the location. Saint-Jeannet is a working village, not a resort. There's a boulangerie, a couple of cafés, a weekly market, and hiking trails that start at the top of the village. You're not isolated — Nice, Antibes, and the Italian border are all within an hour — but you're not in a tourist strip either. The hosts, Benoit and the team, have lived here since 2006 and are involved in the day-to-day running of the week.

The teaching spans Hatha, Vinyasa, and restorative styles, with a fair amount of pranayama and meditation built in. Sessions are usually 75–90 minutes and adjusted to whoever's in the room — mixed-level groups are the norm, and complete beginners are common. If you've practised for years, you'll still get something from the workshop sessions and the slower evening practices. Mats, blocks, bolsters, and blankets are all at the studio; you don't need to bring equipment.
