Colombia · 4 days · From USD 466
This is a retreat rooted in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, specifically the Dzogchen teachings of Dudjom Rinpoche. It is not a spa or a fancy hotel, as one guest notes, but a genuine retreat center where the practice of meditation is central to the experience. The daily rhythm is designed to support turning inward and settling the mind, with clear periods for practice, rest, and silence.
Your guide, Pema, is a former international DJ who left that world after a personal crisis and devoted himself to meditation. He has studied with renowned masters, including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and brings a calm, authentic energy to his teaching. He is known for making meditation accessible and for creating a supportive atmosphere for beginners.
The retreat is held at Senda Loto, a center located just 5 minutes from the main entrance of Tayrona National Park, between Santa Marta and Palomino. The property is surrounded by lush vegetation, with views of the river and mountains. There is a pool, a yoga shala, a library, and spaces for quiet contemplation. Accommodation ranges from shared rooms to private cabins, some with their own plunge pool.
A highlight of the longer retreat is a silent mindful walk in Tayrona National Park, guided by a local Kogui elder. This is a rare opportunity to connect with the land through the eyes of its indigenous guardians. The retreat includes all meals, which are vegetarian and focused on local, sustainable ingredients.
