The retreat runs Wednesday to Sunday. You arrive on Wednesday afternoon, with check-in from 4pm. There's a welcome gift and a short opening circle where the four duos meet. Then there's a restorative yoga class to stretch out after the travel, followed by the first group dinner.
Thursday is the sailing day. After a gentle all-levels flow class, the group heads out on a boat across Bacalar's lagoon, which is famous for its many shades of blue. The afternoon is free for swimming, napping or wandering into town. The day ends with yin yoga and dinner together.
Friday is lighter. After morning yoga, you spend time at a local spot on the lagoon to swim and play in the water. In the evening there's a sound healing session, and then dinner. Saturday starts with a grounding and gratitude practice. After that comes a guided creative workshop, with optional breathwork and journaling for anyone who wants it. The final dinner is at a restaurant in Bacalar.
Sunday is slow. There's some gentle movement, a closing circle and a last breakfast together, and check-out is at 12pm. Airport drop-off at Chetumal is included.
The main thing that sets this retreat apart is who it's for. It's built only for mother–daughter and sister pairs, and the group is capped at four duos. Most yoga retreats are a mix of solo travellers and couples. Here, everyone has come with someone they're related to, and the sessions are planned for doing together.
Bacalar sits a few hours south of Tulum. It's quieter and much less built-up than the Riviera Maya. The lagoon is freshwater and very clear, and it's good for swimming and sailing. The closest airport is Chetumal, which you usually reach via Mexico City. Nicole, the host, can help you work out the route if you're coming from Cancún or Tulum.
