Costa Rica · 7 days
A typical day starts early-ish, with movement before it gets too hot. Morning sessions at Jungle's Edge are Muay Thai or BJJ, held in open-air spaces with jungle on all sides. Breakfast follows — included on both packages — and this is where the Silver and Gold packages really diverge. Silver guests finish up and head out: to Playa Guiones, into town for a smoothie, or off on whatever Nosara has going that day. Gold guests stay put and get ready for round two.
Afternoons are the heaviest training block for the Gold package. You might do MMA — striking and grappling blended into one session — or a second BJJ class, or boxing over at Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort. The boxing coaching focuses on mitt work, footwork and timing. Cold plunges are part of the Gold recovery routine, which sounds brutal and is, but it makes the next session noticeably easier. Surf lessons can be slotted in here too, at an additional $99 each, and the waves around Nosara are the reason surfers keep coming back to this stretch of coast.
Evenings wind down with yoga in the treetop shala, held on select weekdays, or you can walk over to Bodhi Tree for one of their daily classes — they run a well-regarded schedule with strong teachers. Dinner at A Cachete is included on the Gold package. Nights are quiet; this is a small town and most people are asleep not long after dark because tomorrow starts early.
What separates this from a generic fight camp is the location and the interoperability. You're not locked into one discipline. The instructors here work across Muay Thai, BJJ and MMA, and the arrangement with Bodhi Tree means you get yoga and boxing in a separate, larger facility a few steps away. The two BJJ black belts on site are the backbone — over three decades of combined mat time between them, teaching both Gi and No Gi.
Accommodation is on site at Jungle's Edge. Rooms are comfortable rather than luxurious, and the whole point is that you're a short walk from the mats. Nosara itself is a small beach town on the Pacific, known for consistent surf, yoga, and a slow pace. You fly into Liberia or San José and drive in — most people arrange a shuttle. Once you're here, you can walk or bike to most things.
