Muay Thai Retreat in Nosara, Costa Rica — 7 Nights of Twice-Daily Training at Jungle's Edge

Costa Rica · 8 days · From EUR 1785

Training is the point of the week. Kru Vivek Nakarmi leads both daily sessions — a morning block from 10:00 to 11:30 and an afternoon block from 1:30 to 3:00 — covering Muay Thai technique on the pads and in drills, pitched so that total beginners and people who compete can both get something out of it. He's the WBC USA Muay Thai Mid-Atlantic Regional Director, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu purple belt, and a former WKA, IKF and USMTA champion at 135 lb, so the technical detail is real. Between sessions you'll find a beach jog at 7am, optional surf lessons, the pool, the cold plunge or the on-site gym.

The schedule varies slightly across the week. Day 1 starts with a beach jog and breakfast before training, then the waterfall tour takes the afternoon, and dinner closes the day. Days 2 and 3 open with optional surf lessons at 7am instead of the jog, then follow the same two-session rhythm, with drinks and games around the fire pit at 5:30pm. Day 4 swaps the morning jog for optional yoga at 7am. Days 5 and 6 return to the beach jog, two training blocks, and the fire pit. Arrival day is December 12th: check in at 2pm, dinner and opening ceremony at 6:30pm. Departure day is December 19th, with coffee and tea before you head out.

What separates this from a generic fight camp is the setting you recover in. Jungle's Edge is an all-inclusive eco-resort minutes from the beach, ringed by jungle and banana trees, in one of the world's five Blue Zones. Nosara itself has high-speed internet, international restaurants, local markets and surf-friendly waves, so you're not roughing it. The Casitas and Lotus and Bamboo suites have full kitchens if you'd rather cook, though three meals a day are already covered.

Rooms are assigned after you reserve, and the page is clear that the type isn't guaranteed at booking — several categories, including the A/C private single and the entire Bamboo suite, were already sold out when this was written. Deposits are $500 per person for shared rooms, $500 for a private single, and ,000 for a private room for a couple, and the deposit is non-refundable. 50% of the remaining balance is due by July 1, 2026 and the final payment by October 13, 2026.

It's a family-friendly setup as much as a fight camp. Children can train alongside their parents with adult supervision; there are no separate kids' classes. Kids 13 and over pay the shared room rate. Parents staying with children under 12 pay the private room for couples rate. Children 5 to 12 are $650 each, which covers meals, the waterfall tour and airport transport, and under-4s come free. That makes this a workable option for a parent who doesn't want to stop training for a week.
